Senior Microsystem Engineer

ISC seeks a Senior Microsystem Engineer, who, under the supervision of the MEMS Technology Manager, will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop new devices and systems by conducting concept layout, performance modeling, materials and process selection, electronics integration, algorithm, and prototyping. Develop plans to mitigate development risks.
  • Develop new systems concepts that leverage 3D chip stacking and integration technologies developed by Irvine Sensors.
  • Conduct system analyses using spreadsheets or commercial software codes such MATLAB and finite element modeling.
  • Collaborate with technologist from the industry and academia to build partnership for developing novel system and component technologies.
  • Identify new technology opportunities, develop innovative solutions, prepare and submit white papers and briefing slides to potential technology funding sources.
  • Review government solicitations (SBIR, STTR, BAA) and act as team leader in concept generation, proposal writing, marketing, and program planning.
  • Prepare program plans including milestones, schedule, and budget; manage and motivate team to meet program and company needs.
  • Conduct marketing studies and evaluate commercialization potential for new technologies; build business cases and make recommendations for product development
  • Provide technical support and guidance for various internal development activities including modeling, hardware design, and project management
  • Present technical work for peer reviews, patent applications, and publications

 

Must Have The Following:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics required; advanced

  • 4 years of advanced technology development experience, including at least 2 years in MEMS technologies

  • Must have inertial sensor development experience

  • Must have experience in writing proposal (SBIR or others)

  • Can generate new intellectual properties

  • Must be comfortable with multi-tasking (Analysis & FEM, fabrication, testing, …) on technically diverse projects

  • Experience in Office Programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Proficiency in internet research must be self-driven, with excellent oral and written communications, and enjoy working in a competitive and multi-discipline team environment

  • Must be able to qualify for security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship


 

Senior Hardware/Firmware Engineer

Req.# 4-2010-1

 

ISC seeks a Senior Hardware/Firmware Engineer, who, under the supervision of the Microsystems Technology Manager, will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct tradeoffs and design studies of electronic systems including architecture development and hardware implementation for smart sensors (inertial, optical, LADAR, acoustic, and electromagnetic)

  • Conduct electronic design involving digital and mixed-mode circuits to process various transducer signals.  The transducer mechanisms can be capacitive, inductive, resistive, optical, acoustic, or piezo-electric

  • Conduct testing of prototypes and early electronic demonstration systems

  • Identify new technology opportunities, develop solutions, and work independently from concept generation to system design, and implementation approach

  • Lead or participate in proposal writing, customer briefing, and program planning

  • Collaborate with technologists in other fields of discipline and outside consultants from the industry and academia to develop novel technologies and solutions

  • Take on project management and principle investigator roles on assigned activities

  • Present at technical work to internal peer reviews and to the customers

Must Have The Following:

  • B.S.E.E or Equivalent.  M.S. or Ph.D. preferred

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in high speed digital electronic design with FPGA, VHDL or Verilog, circuit simulations, and noise analysis

  • Programming experience in “C”, “C++” and Assembly Language

  • High-speed IO design

  • Knowledge of CMOS HV (250V) driver & circuit design and electronic control systems a big plus.

  • Must have experience in writing proposal (SBIR or others)

  • Can generate new intellectual properties

  • Must be comfortable with multi-tasking (Analysis & FEM, fabrication, testing, …) on technically diverse projects

Senior Firmware Engineer

ISC seeks a Senior Firmware Engineer, who will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and integration of highly complex multi-device FPGA designs that include processor cores, memory, multiple clock domains, high speed I/O and inter-processor/inter-device communications

  • Ability to take existing design and redesign, reverse engineer and/or document

  • Understand mathematical expression and algorithms as requirement definition

  • Thorough understanding of the hardware/firmware/software development process, integration thereof, tools, conventions and constraints

  • Provide effort estimation for various sized projects

  • Experience in the following applications areas:  High Speed Communications, Image Processing, Data Acquisition, Camera Interface, and Digital Filtering

Must Have The Following:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in technical field, advanced degree a plus

  • Multi-disciplinary software/firmware engineer with emphasis on high performance processing on multi-device/processor platforms

  • Minimum 10 years related experience

  • Large device FPGA & VHDL/Verilog experience

  • High speed I/O experience required

  • Proficiency in VHDL or Verilog with at least working knowledge of other RTL, c/c++

  • Proficiency with Xilinx development tools: compiler, simulation, place & route, ChipScope, etc.

  • Understanding of alternative tool sets (Aldec, Synopsis, etd)

  • Good communication skills.

  • Must be able to qualify for security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship


 

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

ISC seeks a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, reporting to the Manager of Software Engineering, who will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, development and integration of high performance embedded DSP/CPU systems

  • Ability to take existing design and redesign, reverse engineer, and/or document

  • Experience with instrumentation & tools required for test and integration of embedded systems, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, ICE, JTAG, and interface emulators

  • Understand mathematical expression and algorithms as requirement definition

  • Thorough understanding of the hardware/firmware/software development process, integration thereof, tools, conventions and constraints

  • Provide effort estimation for various sized projects

  • Experience in the following application areas:  High Speed Communications, Image Processing, Data Acquisition, Camera Interface, and Digital Filtering

Must Have The Following:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a technical field

  • Advanced degree is a plus
