Senior Microsystem Engineer

ISC seeks a Senior Microsystem Engineer, who, under the supervision of the MEMS Technology Manager, will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop new devices and systems by conducting concept layout, performance modeling, materials and process selection, electronics integration, algorithm, and prototyping. Develop plans to mitigate development risks.
  • Develop new systems concepts that leverage 3D chip stacking and integration technologies developed by Irvine Sensors.
  • Conduct system analyses using spreadsheets or commercial software codes such MATLAB and finite element modeling.
  • Collaborate with technologist from the industry and academia to build partnership for developing novel system and component technologies.
  • Identify new technology opportunities, develop innovative solutions, prepare and submit white papers and briefing slides to potential technology funding sources.
  • Review government solicitations (SBIR, STTR, BAA) and act as team leader in concept generation, proposal writing, marketing, and program planning.
  • Prepare program plans including milestones, schedule, and budget; manage and motivate team to meet program and company needs.
  • Conduct marketing studies and evaluate commercialization potential for new technologies; build business cases and make recommendations for product development
  • Provide technical support and guidance for various internal development activities including modeling, hardware design, and project management
  • Present technical work for peer reviews, patent applications, and publications

 

Must Have The Following:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics required; advanced

  • 4 years of advanced technology development experience, including at least 2 years in MEMS technologies

  • Experience in Office Programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Proficiency in internet research must be self-driven, with excellent oral and written communications, and enjoy working in a competitive and multi-discipline team environment

  • Must be able to qualify for security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship


 

Electro Optical Technician

Req.# 3-2010-1

 

ISC seeks an experienced Electro Optical Technician to:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the construction, test and debug of infrared and visible cameras

  • Perform documentation and tracking of assemblies. Write and maintain travelers

  • Build fine pitch printed circuit boards requiring the ability to solder under a microscope

  • Work with optical components, lens assemblies and FPAs

  • Work with engineers to test and debug printed circuit boards and camera assemblies

Must Have The Following:

  • High school education required; Associate degree or some four year college highly desired

  • 2-3 years experience as an electronics or electro-optical technician in a product development environment

  • Ability to identify technical problems and work with engineering staff to resolve those problems

  • Ability to read schematics, construct prototypes and debug and test printed circuit assemblies

  • Strong assembly and soldering skills on fine pitch components

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Microscopes, fine pitch soldering tools, Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc…)

  • Must be able to qualify for security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship


 

Senior Hardware Engineer

Req.# 4-2010-1

 

ISC seeks a Senior Hardware Engineer, who, under the supervision of the Microsystems Technology Manager, will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct tradeoffs and design studies of electronic systems including architecture development and hardware implementation for smart sensors (inertial, optical, LADAR, acoustic, and electromagnetic). 

  • Conduct electronic design involving digital and mixed-mode circuits to process various transducer signals.  The transducer mechanisms can be capacitive, inductive, resistive, optical, acoustic, or piezo-electric.

  • Conduct testing of prototypes and early electronic demonstration systems

  • Identify new technology opportunities, develop solutions, and work independently from concept generation to system design, and implementation approach

  • Lead or participate in proposal writing, customer briefing, and program planning

  • Collaborate with technologists in other fields of discipline and outside consultants from the industry and academia to develop novel technologies and solutions

  • Take on project management and principle investigator roles on assigned activities

  • Present at technical work to internal peer reviews and to the customers

Must Have The Following:

  • B.S.E.E or Equivalent.  M.S. or Ph.D. preferred.

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in high speed digital electronic design with FPGA, VHDL or Verilog, circuit simulations, and noise analysis.

  • Knowledge of CMOS HV (250V) driver & circuit design and electronic control systems a big plus.

  • Must be able to qualify for security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
