Senior Microsystem Engineer

ISC seeks a Senior Microsystem Engineer, who, under the supervision of the MEMS Technology Manager, will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop new devices and systems by conducting concept layout, performance modeling, materials and process selection, electronics integration, algorithm, and prototyping. Develop plans to mitigate development risks.
  • Develop new systems concepts that leverage 3D chip stacking and integration technologies developed by Irvine Sensors.
  • Conduct system analyses using spreadsheets or commercial software codes such MATLAB and finite element modeling.
  • Collaborate with technologist from the industry and academia to build partnership for developing novel system and component technologies.
  • Identify new technology opportunities, develop innovative solutions, prepare and submit white papers and briefing slides to potential technology funding sources.
  • Review government solicitations (SBIR, STTR, BAA) and act as team leader in concept generation, proposal writing, marketing, and program planning.
  • Prepare program plans including milestones, schedule, and budget; manage and motivate team to meet program and company needs.
  • Conduct marketing studies and evaluate commercialization potential for new technologies; build business cases and make recommendations for product development
  • Provide technical support and guidance for various internal development activities including modeling, hardware design, and project management
  • Present technical work for peer reviews, patent applications, and publications

 

Must Have The Following:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics required; advanced

  • 4 years of advanced technology development experience, including at least 2 years in MEMS technologies

  • Must have inertial sensor development experience

  • Must have experience in writing proposal (SBIR or others)

  • Can generate new intellectual properties

  • Must be comfortable with multi-tasking (Analysis & FEM, fabrication, testing, …) on technically diverse projects

  • Experience in Office Programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Proficiency in internet research must be self-driven, with excellent oral and written communications, and enjoy working in a competitive and multi-discipline team environment

  • Must be able to qualify for security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship


 

Lead Electro-Optical Project/Systems Engineer

ISC seeks a Lead Electro-Optical Project/Systems Engineer who will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of complex IR & Visible imaging systems (preferably Uncooled microbolometer based IR imaging systems)

  • Lead Engineer in the design of sensors and systems including both passive and active systems. This includes the identification and development of system requirements for several IR and visible system programs.

  • Experience in the technical management of military EO projects.

  • Working knowledge of optical design, signal processing, image processing, infrared sensors, testing, characterization and mechanical design.

  • Working knowledge of electro-optical system analysis to determine performance of LWIR and Near IR systems.  Knowledge of MRT modeling using NVTHERM or FLIR 92 modeling tools and MRC models highly desirable.

  • Good problem solver.  Ability to quickly sort through details to determine root cause of problem.

  • Interface with key customers on the design and development of IR systems and IR cameras for both military and commercial applications

  • Generate proposals and support new business opportunities working with the Product Director

Must Have The Following:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Physics required.  M.S. Degree preferred.

  • 10-15 years experience

  • Knowledge of optical engineering modeling programs

  • Familiar with optical manufacturing practices

  • MS Office proficiency - Excel, Project, Word

  • Must be able to qualify for security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship


 

Electro Optical Technician

Req.# 11-2010-3

 

ISC seeks and Electro Optical Technician who will:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the construction, test and debug of  infrared and visible cameras

  • Perform documentation and tracking of assemblies. Write and maintain travelers

  • Build fine pitch printed circuit boards requiring the ability to solder under a microscope

  • Work with optical components, lens assemblies and FPAs

  • Work with engineers to test and debug printed circuit boards and camera assemblies

  • After initial training on day shift, this position will work 6:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Must Have The Following:

  • High school education required

  • Associate degree or some 4 year college highly desired

  • 2-3 years experience as an electronics or electro-optical technician in a product development environment with focal plane array experience

  • Ability to identify technical problems and work with engineering staff to resolve those problems

  • Ability to read schematics, construct prototypes and debug and test printed circuit assemblies

  • Strong assembly and soldering skills on fine pitch components

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be proficient in use of basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, etc.

  • Skilled with Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Microscopes, Fine pitch soldering tools

  • Must be able to qualify for security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
